VA-11 Hall-A is a five year old babby

Hell yeah!

This game changed the lives of a bunch of people all over the world, gave this team an audience and all the cool things needed to make more games in the future. For that, we will forever be grateful.

Not gonna lie, I’m not good with anniversaries. Doesn’t help I’m way too excited about our current projects to reminisce too much about Va11halla, but I still love it to bits. I love your fan art, the experiences you tell us via email, literally anything you do with our lil’ game is blessed because it was made from a place of love.

I’m still disappointed I couldn’t achieve my goal of a new cool game every two years after Va11halla, but that’s alright. Shit happened, lots of it, but as long as I’m alive I’ll be able to learn and improve as much as I need to make that possible. Too many ideas, too many characters, too many stories that need to be told and I’ll do my best to make all of them happen!

Let’s fill this world with badass cuties!

While we didn’t exactly plan anything special for this anniversary (again, I’m not good with those), Garoad (the man behind the God Tier soundtrack) along with fabulous artist Aurahack and Black Screen Records have prepared a very special full release of the game’s music in Vinyl. Features every song in the game plus extras and goodies. Just look at that beautiful artwork. Jesus Christ.

I’m sure it’s gonna be gone by the time you read this, but here it is anyway.

Now I’m back to work. Games need to be made.

  1. Words can’t describe how much this game has meant to me ever since it came out 5 years ago. It really has been something special that I’ll never ever ever forget, all the characters, the relatable moments, the evolution of the story, It’ll forever have a place in my heart as my favorite game, ever.

I’m incredibly hyped for the release of N1RV ANN-A and all of your other, super secret projects you keep teasing! I’ll be waiting for them to come out eagerly

  2. 5 years, cheers! ヽ(´▽`)/

  3. Thanks a lot for your hard work, Vallhalla literally changed my thoughts on many life questions and I really appreciate it. Good luck with Nirvana, gonna buy it for sure

  4. Thank you for this masterpiece, for this 5 year anniversary, I went shopping and got wine to play this game again.

It took me hours but I got it, gonna chill with the characters again. Thanks, changed my life.

    1. I jumped on the VA-11 Hall-A train pretty late, having only played the game on Switch just last year. Despite that, it’s one of the pieces of media dearest to heart for many reasons: the unshakeable vibe, the godlike soundtrack, and ESPECIALLY the characters and their conversations. I felt like I got to know the main cast in a way that felt real and personal, and it was so, so painful saying goodbye to them after finishing the story. The fateful conversation between Jill and Dana, with Garoad’s impeccably moving “You’ve Got Me” playing over all of Jill’s unwinding and Dana’s comforting words, is one of those moments that’ll stick with me for a long time.

I’m really grateful that you guys created this game and shared it with the world; it was a real labour of love and it shows in spades 🙂 Looking forward to what you’ll cook up in N1RV Ann-A!

  5. Happy 5th you impactful and amazing little game! I will miss the time of my first playthrough, going through the great world and amazing characters through little talks and news articles. Happy birthday VA11 Hall-A!

Best girl best boss though, as always.

  8. Man, I lost count of how many times I replayed this game over the years, truly a masterpiece worth revisiting. It’s time to mix drinks and change lives! Valhalla forever!

  9. I played through the game 5 times myself, introduced my friends to it, got all the achievements and put almost 100 hours into this game. VA11HALLA touched my heart and it makes me so happy to see it still has an active community after 5 years!! Looking forward to N1RVANNA and here’s to another good year :]

  10. Congratulations. This game really means quite a lor to me. It’s very relieved to have a cute place in mind where the city’s breaths can be felt.

  11. Idk how can I love this game so much, the music, the characters, the world, I loved everything, my life changed after this game and I started wearing jeans under my skirt, good luck with the next project!!!

  12. There hasn’t been much good indie games that i like at the time but oh when my friend play a piece of the soundtrack, that was what got me into the game at first. I thought: “so. . . Another indie anime styled visual novel” but it happened to be: “you’re kidding me! Put this game on another empty shelf and give it an unique genre now! Everything is fantastic”. All the retro style pixelated design that bring nostalgia, combine with the chiptune sfx, the bartending mechanics, the story build make me wanna recommend this game for a GOTY. Thank-you Sukeban, Garoad and those who contributed to this game and YOU TOO! Gamers for supporting it and making it great for the past 5 years. I’m looking forward to the next masterpiece. Happy 5th anniversary
