Project Updates and a Happy Anniversary

Sukeban Games was technically born in May of 2014, but the only anniversary I count is Va11halla’s (June 21st! how to forget such a moment).

It’s been a tumultuous seven years but here we are, still kicking.

To celebrate such a milestone I’ve decided to write a lil’ post with some recent happenings.

New game: Dressed Delivery

We teamed up once again for a 72-hour grind in order to make video games real. This time around we were fortunate to work alongside StainSilencer; a very talented artist who knocked it out of the park with character design and illustration. You can check out her works here.

Red-Green Blues is on the way

Fernando announced it a couple months ago, but we have a new short story coming with double the bells and whistles of Sapphic Pussry Rhapsody. It’s currently in the editing and translation phase, but it’s coming sooner rather than later. He’s been working on a new story as well, set in a completely separate universe. Still too early to say anything concrete. Hell, we don’t even know about a final format (book? game? who the hell knows) but something’s cooking over there in Osaka.

N1rvannA’s still a thing

Not a substantial update by any means, but the game’s still in production and moving along. One day we’ll tell the tale of what’s been happening behind the curtain, but for now I can say it will eventually be a thing.

I wouldn’t expect more specific details until the project is completed.

When you see a new trailer or something we want to guarantee an actual release date!

Project D’s script is done

Those who follow me on Twitter know I’ve also been cooking a rather mysterious meal. It’s internally called Project D since we haven’t decided on a finalised name, but it exists.

I haven’t talked much about this project in a formal way through these “official” channels. Partly because it went through a phase where a lot of the concept was too nebulous (and I’d like to avoid another n1rvanna situation if I can help it) but things have been progressing quite fast lately now that we settled on a final story structure. Out of a projected 7 levels, 2 are already playable and I’m very excited about it.

A full reveal including a launch date is planned once the game’s content is completed. In the meantime you can peruse my deranged ramblings in our devlog section.

Not gonna lie, I’m scared as hell. It’s the first commercial project I make where I’m in complete charge of the script so it could go real wrong… or real good. Hopefully the latter, aye?

You can read what the game about somewhere in here.

While we’re in the subject of shit written by me, I made a short VN for a gamejam near the start of the year that you can check out in this link. It’s called She Vomited Guns. Would love if you gave it time of day.

New Dana outfit!

Last but certainly not least, our powerful in-house artist Merengedoll designed a fantastic new costume for our iconic mascot Dana.

The concept of this design is “A NEW CHALLENGE AWAITS… FAR INTO THE STARS”.

STAR DANA

We’ve been very blunt and raw about the many personal hurdles we’ve had over the years, but making everyone sad over that history was never in our agenda. We like being transparent to a degree, but if there’s an attitude we’d like to transmit moving forward is one of NEVER BE GAME OVER.

The world; the universe, is huge. It’s full of adventures and new experiences. Frontiers awaiting to be reached by a few brave ones. This design represents a vision into the future where we seek to be unapologetically SUKEBAN wherever we go, in whatever we do.

Thank you all for sticking around.

Expect new works from us this year. Be stories, short games, more interviews with cool developers. Whatever we make, we wanna share it with you.

PS: You can use the Star Dana illustrations in whatever way you want as long as it’s personal use only. Have fun!
