VA-11 Hall-A fangames

I like to think everyone knows we love to support fan content… perhaps maybe a bit too much. Our twitter feed is essentially a never-ending stream of all kinds of fan creations, and we actively seek for untagged artwork to share with everyone. Like a child who just learned how to stand on their hands and wants to show mom and anyone who will pay attention this newly found skill.

It’s not weird, I think, to be like this. After all, before we made that game our previous attempts at gaining a big audience sort of failed when it came to actual game projects. This means we don’t take for granted what we have, so we give back to the community by sharing their creations inspired by our work.

One type of content is easy to miss, though, since you can’t just look at it and finish your engagement with it then and there. You have to click a lil bit, perhaps download a file and then actually experience it.

I’m talking of course about video games. More specifically those inspired by VA-11 Hall-A.

The following is a collection of things we’ve found over the years. If you’re a dev and I forgot, or didn’t know about a game you made that should be on this list please feel free to get in touch.

Just to quickly note: I haven’t played some of these (sorry, lack of time for the most part!), so if they feature unsavory content…. well, then I didn’t actually know. I’m irresponsible like that and just assume everything VA-11 Hall-A was made in good faith.

Bar Back Blues

Developed by: Cool Beans Productions

“In this world, where corporations reign supreme, and all human life is infected with nanomachines designed to oppress them; bartenders spend their workday chatting up ladies and spend their paychecks on useless shit.

But this is not about those people.

Ever wondered who’s keeping the bar afloat? It ain’t the bartender, that’s for sure. While they’re busy flirting with pink haired girls, one man must do what he can to keep the wheels of capitalism well greased and the booze flowing.

That man is the barback.”

VA-11-Hall-nya (mod, requires base game)

Developed by Requiell, Emilia Argyle, @scottpilgrimrules, @Artyrie_Art.

“In this world, corporations reign supreme, all human life is infected with nanomachines designed to oppress them, and the terrifying White Knights ensure that everyone obeys the laws.

But, this is about cat girls.

Specifically, this is a mod for VA-11 Hall-A, a Visual Novel released by the kick-ass folks of Sukeban Games back in 2016.
It’s a phenomenal game, you should definitely play it. And after finishing, you should play this mod.

What this mod has to offer:

One fully-featured in-game day worth of content
Cat ears
Multiple branching paths and endings
Cat puns
New sprites, animations and sound effects
cat

So what are you waiting for!?”

Jill Stingray Listens to your Drunk Ramblings and does the Stanky Leg

Developed by KidaJiwo

“After a bad day you decide to go outside, walk around aimlessly and breathe some fresh air, at least as fresh as nanomachine-infested air is, when you find a small bar down an alleyway. Thinking drowning your sorrows in alcohol is a good idea, you step in and sit down on the counter, where a bartender greets you. Will you open up your life to her? And there’s no other option so you will have to ‘fess up.”

I’m very likely missing some games but like I’ve said: Get in touch if you wanna be featured! This is sort of a master post I’ll share from time to time as more things are added.

  1. You know you made it big when fans make a lewd version of your game.

  2. I never knew these games existed, and they all look fun or cool and very good too, I’ll be happy to play them, it’s like little spin offs! Since I really loved Va-11-hall-a, I think I’ll love these games as well! thanks for sharing them!

    1. Glass cleaner 2077… was the early version of bar back blues.
at least, i played GC77 and BBB and that’s how it seems. same creator too so…

    2. Thanks! To be honest, Glass Cleaner is really just a demo for Barback Blues, so I don’t think it’s worth it to put it on the list separately. Better use that space for other people’s games.

  3. Once my revamp of my “Glitch in the CIty” fanfiction game adaptation is done, I’ll be sure to provide tons of info and whatnot so I can request it to be hopefully be added with this nice list.
